REGRANO – technology for reducing the volume of waste landfilled

The REGRANO project is co-financed by the European Union.

The purpose of the project is to create a technological solution that enables more efficient processing of plastic and mixed waste, reduces the amount of waste sent to landfill, and generates new secondary raw materials for further industrial use.

REGRANO connects a mobile sorting unit, subsequent recycling processing, and the production of material outputs such as plastic regrind, flakes, regranulate, or input materials for other recycling technologies.

Project objective

The main objective of the project is to support the shift from landfilling to material recovery of waste.

The project focuses in particular on:

  • reducing the volume of waste disposed of in landfills,
  • more efficient sorting of plastic and mixed waste streams,
  • preparing material for mechanical recycling,
  • producing secondary raw materials,
  • supporting the circular economy,
  • introducing modern technologies into waste management,
  • reducing the environmental burden associated with waste disposal.

Project benefits

Thanks to co-financing from the European Union, the REGRANO project can develop technology that provides a practical solution for landfills, waste management companies, municipalities, and industrial enterprises.

The project helps create new value from materials that would otherwise end up without further use. The aim is not only to move waste elsewhere, but to genuinely prepare it for further material recovery.

What the project will enable

The implementation of the project will make it possible in particular to:

  • acquire and implement recycling technology,
  • prepare selected plastic fractions for further processing,
  • reduce the share of residual waste,
  • create a system for recording material flows,
  • verify operating economics in practice,
  • develop subsequent production of regranulate,
  • build partnerships with landfills and waste management companies.

Support from the EU

The REGRANO project has received an approved subsidy covering 50% of eligible costs, up to a maximum amount of CZK 160,000,000.

Support from European Union funds will enable the implementation of modern recycling technology focused on processing plastic and mixed waste, reducing the volume of waste sent to landfills, and producing secondary raw materials for further industrial use.

Thanks to the approved support, the REGRANO project can accelerate the construction of recycling infrastructure, the introduction of advanced sorting technologies, and the development of the circular economy in the Czech Republic.
